WHAT IS FLOW?
FLOW or For Love Of Words is a space and time for creative expression & dialogue through spoken word, hip hop, music production, street theater, and more. FLOW enlists the help of local musicians who mentor our youth in the development of their own creative projects and MCYP projects.
Thus far, FLOW has created a full-length album, The Eternal Voice for Lasting Peace, and created a MCYP spoken word/performance group, GueriLLaNoise that has performed on many stages over the past year including for Louder Than A Bomb, Columbia College Chicago, Loyola University Chicago, Apna Ghar, Asian Human Services, and the University of Michigan’s APIA High School Conference. GueriLLa has also opened up for incredible artists such as ill-Literacy, Denizen Kane, & Yellow Rage.
FLOW also unleashed its first annual event featuring Asian American youth activism & art, UPRISE!, which drew close to 300 audience members and highlighted the incredible work of several social justice youth organizations in Chicago. UPRISE! 2 will be coming soon in late Fall!
Currently FLOW is focusing on street theater & creative writing with the help of the Bagwis Collective. FLOW meets once a week, year-round.
